Welcome

Welcome to the website of Churchdown Players, a friendly village based group who have been staging plays in Churchdown since 1958.

We meet most Wednesday evenings at Churchdown Community Centre to rehearse for two or three productions a year. We also get together throughout the year for quiz evenings, skittles and theatre visits.

Our current membership is around 40, most being on the acting side. We also have some specialists for set design, lighting, sound, continuity, front of house and many more. However, the reality is that most of us are involved at many different levels. So if you come to make the tea there's a good chance you might end up on the stage - I did. We really welcome new members whatever you would like to do.

Latest News

7th April – After the performances of “The Love Nest” we held our AGM, our second at the Community Centre, chose our next production and then decided to have a few weeks off so the cast could read through their parts and get to know their characters better. During the rest period we have still been busy, looking at how to build the set – first time we have had to think about how we are going to get a tree on the stage, trying to source properties and get effects lined up. Rehearsals for “The Darling Buds of May” start on Wednesday 14th April.
